Nora Sørensen Vaage is an Associate Professor in media studies at NTNU, with a permanent side position at the Norwegian Bioart Arena (NOBA) at Campus Ås. She holds a part-time (20%) position as Associate Professor at Nord University. Her academic career includes roles as Assistant Professor in Art and Culture Philosophy at Maastricht University (2016–2020). She holds a PhD in Philosophy of Science from the University of Bergen (2016).
Her research focuses on bioart, eco art, climate change narratives, and the role of metaphors in technology understanding. Key projects include leading the Experiential Soils work package in the Anthropogenic Soils project (2022–2028).
Recent publications explore soil ethics, climate repair, and speculative design. Her work bridges art, science, and technology through exhibitions like Disruption? Repair? (2023) and curation of the Article Biennial (2016). She actively participates in interdisciplinary conferences and public lectures on topics like soil remediation and bioart ethics.
Vaage teaches courses such as FM3000 (Environmental Humanities) and MV1101 (Media History/Theory). She supervises students on media, artscience, and climate ethics topics. Her outreach includes podcasts and collaborations with institutions like Bergen Kunsthall and MUSTS research groups at Maastricht University.
