Nora Lustig is the Samuel Z. Stone Professor of Latin American Economics at Tulane University and founding Director of the Commitment to Equity Institute (CEQ). She holds non-resident fellowships at the Brookings Institution, Georgetown University Americas Institute, Center for Global Development, Inter-American Dialogue, and Paris School of Economics. She earned her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley.
Her research focuses on economic development, inequality, and social policies in Latin America. Key contributions include the Commitment to Equity Handbook, analyzing fiscal policy impacts on poverty and inequality. She serves as President of the Society for the Study of Economic Inequality (ECINEQ) and President Emeritus of the Latin American and Caribbean Economic Association (LACEA).
Recent recognition includes the 2021 Tulane University Innovation Award. Her work bridges academia and policy, emphasizing evidence-based approaches to equitable growth.
