Nora Kennis is a PhD student in Psychology at the University of Edinburgh, affiliated with the School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences. She serves as a tutor in undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including Psychology modules, data analysis using R, and language acquisition. Her research focuses on multilingualism, language production, and cognitive mechanisms underlying language control and switching in bilingual contexts.
Education:
- MSc Cognitive Neuroscience, Radboud University (Netherlands)
- BA Linguistics, Radboud University (Netherlands)
Research Interests: Driven by experimental and neurophysiological methods, her work explores how bilinguals manage language choice during conversation, the interplay between language and general cognitive functions, and the electrophysiological correlates of voluntary vs. cued language switching. Recent studies investigate alignment effects in bilingual interaction and the role of semantic priming in language selection.
Publications & Conferences: Her research has been presented at leading conferences like AMLaP and the International Symposium on Bilingual and L2 Processing. Key contributions include studies on bilingual picture naming difficulties and electrophysiological signatures of language switching.
Academic Engagement: She organizes Psycholinguistics Coffee for postgraduate discussions and co-organizes the 2024 AMLaP conference. She has supervised an MSc dissertation on psycholinguistics and actively contributes to lab meetings at the University of Edinburgh and Radboud University.
