Professor Nora Goldschmidt is a renowned scholar in Classics and Ancient History at Durham University, specializing in classical reception, Latin poetry, and biofiction. She holds a DPhil from Magdalen College, Oxford, and has produced seminal works like Shaggy Crowns (2013), Afterlives of the Roman Poets (2019), and Fragmentary Modernisms (2023). Her research bridges antiquity and modernism, exploring how ancient texts are reimagined in literature, visual arts, and material culture. Goldschmidt has been awarded an AHRC Leadership Fellowship (2020–2022) and her work on classical fragments was shortlisted for the London Hellenic Prize. She edits the New Directions in Classics series and leads interdisciplinary projects on Jewish-Hellenistic cultural intersections and lost Latin literature.
