Dr. Noemi Picco is a Senior Lecturer in Mathematics at Swansea University's School of Mathematics and Computer Science, based at the Computational Foundry on Bay Campus. She specializes in interdisciplinary research at the interface of mathematics and biology, focusing on mathematical modeling of health and disease dynamics. Her work involves theoretical and computational tools to study biological systems across spatial and temporal scales.
Research interests include tumor-environment interactions using individual-based models and partial differential equations, cerebral cortex development through population dynamics, and evolutionary trajectories of mammalian species. She also addresses urgent public health challenges, such as sepsis early diagnosis and modeling COVID-19 infections in Wales to inform non-pharmaceutical interventions. Dr. Picco emphasizes integrating experimental data into mathematical frameworks to generate testable predictions and quantitatively describe biological processes.
Available for postgraduate supervision, her professional links include an ORCID profile (0000-0001-5028-2083) and ResearchGate presence.
