Associate Professor Noam Peleg is a legal scholar at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), affiliated with the School of Global & Public Law within the Faculty of Law and Justice. He holds academic qualifications including LLB (Tel Aviv University), two LLM degrees (Public Law and Human Rights Law from Tel Aviv University and UCL), and a PhD from UCL. His research focuses on international children’s rights law, human rights law, and childhood studies, with a particular emphasis on child development, social media impacts, and paternalism in legal frameworks.
Peleg has held visiting roles at Columbia Law School, Leiden Law School, and the University of Cape Town. He serves on the editorial board of the International Journal of Children’s Rights and actively contributes to NGOs like the Diplomacy Training Program (DTP), advocating for human rights in the Asia-Pacific region. His work bridges legal theory and practice, addressing issues such as child autonomy, immunisation laws, and the rights of marginalized groups like Roma children and Palestinian youth.
Peleg’s publications span books (e.g., The Child’s Right to Development), edited volumes, and peer-reviewed articles in journals such as the Duke Journal of Comparative and International Law and Human Rights Law Review. His scholarship critiques systemic paternalism in international law and advocates for child-centred legal approaches.
