Nives Wetzel de Cediel

Nives Wetzel de Cediel serves as Director of Field Placement and Supervision at the Berkeley Teacher Education Program (BTEP) and Faculty Lecturer in the Principal Leadership Institute (PLI) at UC Berkeley's School of Education. She specializes in arts integration, equity-centered leadership development, and antiracist pedagogy.

Her work focuses on using Theater of the Oppressed and metaphors to reframe leadership education, particularly for African American teacher candidates. She coordinates Bay Area community partnerships around parent engagement, visual/performing arts for transformation, and antiracist practices.

With 20 years in K-12 education, she has taught across San Francisco, Berkeley, and Oakland Unified School Districts, blending arts education with social justice advocacy.
