Kyle Beckham

Kyle Beckham is a Lecturer and co-director at the Berkeley Teacher Education Program (BTEP) at the University of California, Berkeley. He holds a PhD from Stanford University's Race, Inequality, and Language in Education (RILE) program (2019). Prior to academia, he taught high school history, literacy, and media arts in San Francisco and Oakland for a decade, co-founding San Francisco Unified School District's Ethnic Studies program.

His research focuses on alternative schooling models, continuation high schools, and transformative educational practices. Key interests include curriculum design, African American educational history, and the intersection of Ethnic Studies with teacher training. He teaches courses on curriculum development, social foundations of education, and action research methodology.

Recent publications explore WEB Du Bois' educational theories, Ethnic Studies pedagogy, and innovative curriculum approaches in public schools. Beckham collaborates with educator collectives to advance equity-centered educational reforms.
