Nitya Kallivayalil is a Professor of Astronomy and Dean's Research Fellow at the University of Virginia. Her research focuses on Galactic structure and dynamics, as well as near-field cosmology. She is also a member of the GECO management committee.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Astrophysics, Harvard University
- BA in Physics, Mount Holyoke College
Nitya's research explores the formation and evolution of galaxies through precise kinematic measurements and dynamical modeling. She has contributed to studies of the Milky Way and its satellite galaxies.

- Pappalardo Fellow in Physics at MIT
- YCAA Prize Fellow at Yale
