معرفی
Marla Geha is a Professor of Astronomy and Physics at Yale University, leading the Geha Research Group. Her primary research focuses on dwarf galaxies, cosmology, and dark matter, with a specialization in the Milky Way's satellite galaxies. She holds affiliations with the Department of Astronomy and the Yale Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics (YCAA). Her work includes the SAGA Survey, exploring Milky Way analogs, and studies of low-mass galaxies' star formation and chemical evolution.
Education: Ph.D. in Astronomy and Astrophysics from the University of California, Santa Cruz (2003). Notable awards include the Dylan Hixon Prize for Teaching Excellence, Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship, and John S. Guggenheim Fellowship.
- Research Interests: Galaxy formation, dark matter distribution, ultra-faint galaxies, and cosmological simulations.
- Recent Projects: SAGA Survey (100 Milky Way analogs), studies of star formation in low-mass galaxies, and collaborations on observational kinematics.
Teaching and Outreach: Courses include ASTR 330 (Python for Astrophysics) and the REVU summer program for veteran undergraduates. She co-founded the Warrior-Scholar Project, a boot camp for military veterans transitioning to academia.
Lab/Team: The Geha Group includes graduate students, postdocs, and undergraduates working on observational and computational astrophysics. Recent work emphasizes satellite galaxy dynamics and multiwavelength constraints on black hole populations.
