Professor Nisreen A Alwan is a Professor of Public Health at the University of Southampton and an Honorary Consultant in Public Health at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust. Her research focuses on preventing disease and improving well-being in young families, with a strong emphasis on reducing health inequalities. She is internationally recognized for her work on Long Covid, including pioneering efforts to quantify Long Covid's impact and advocating for equitable care. She received an MBE (2021) for her pandemic contributions and was named in BBC 100 Women (2020).

Research Interests: Lifecourse epidemiology, maternal/child health, food insecurity interventions, and obesity prevention. Current projects include the MELD-B initiative studying multimorbidity predictors and the Hi-COVE study examining Long Covid disparities in ethnic minorities.
