Professor Keith Godfrey is an NIHR Senior Investigator and Professor of Epidemiology & Human Development at the MRC Lifecourse Epidemiology Centre, University of Southampton. He holds additional appointments as Honorary Consultant at University Hospital Southampton NHS FT, Visiting Professor at the National University of Singapore, and Co-Chair of the UK Preconception Partnership. His work focuses on lifecourse epidemiology, maternal and child health, nutrition, and epigenetics.

His research explores how maternal nutrition and epigenetic factors during pregnancy influence long-term health outcomes in offspring, with a focus on bone development, metabolic disorders, and cognitive function. Current projects address preconception nutrition, gestational diabetes, and intergenerational health impacts. Recent publications highlight interventions to improve maternal health and the role of one-carbon metabolism in fertility.
Keith Godfrey actively supervises PhD students in Biological Sciences, Human Development & Health, and Primary Care & Population Sciences. His work is supported by collaborations with institutions in Singapore, Norway, and the UK, including funding from Diabetes UK, ESRC, and the National Institutes of Health.
