Nishant Shah is an Associate Professor of Global Media and Director of the Digital Narratives Studio at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, School of Communication and Journalism. He has held roles at institutions including Leuphana University (Germany), ArtEZ University of the Arts (Netherlands), and Radboud University (Netherlands). He is a Faculty Associate at Harvard University’s Berkman Klein Center and a Knowledge Partner for Point of View (Mumbai) and Digital Asia Hub (Hong Kong/Singapore). His research focuses on digital authorship, authenticity, and narrative change for collective action, with notable works like Really Fake (2021) and Overload, Excess, Creep: An Internet From India (2023).
Shah’s interdisciplinary work bridges technology, art, and activism, exploring themes such as platform governance, digital narratives, and socio-technical systems. He contributes to public discourse via columns in The Indian Express and collaborates on global initiatives like the ‘Doing Things with Stories’ project. His affiliations include supervisory roles at Tetem (Netherlands) and advisory roles in art and tech communities worldwide.
