Nirvikar Dahiya

Nirvikar Dahiya, M.D. is a Professor and Consultant in the Department of Radiology at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona. With over 25 years of experience in diagnostic and interventional ultrasound, Dr. Dahiya has established himself as a leading expert in musculoskeletal ultrasound and elastography techniques.

His educational background includes an MB BS from Punjabi University (1991), residency in Medical Radiodiagnostics at St. John's Medical College (1996), and specialized training in abdominal imaging at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology. Board-certified by the American Board of Radiologists since 2011, he has received numerous teaching and research awards throughout his career.

Dr. Dahiya's research primarily focuses on diagnostic and interventional ultrasound with special interests in sonographic detection of musculoskeletal injuries, transplant imaging, gynecological imaging, and vascular ultrasound. He is an early adopter of Shear Wave elastography and contrast ultrasound as adjunct diagnostic tools, with his work significantly contributing to ultrasound consensus guidelines through the Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound.
