معرفی
Dr Nir Grossman is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in the Department of Brain Sciences at Imperial College London's Faculty of Medicine. He is a founding fellow of the UK Dementia Research Institute centre at Imperial and affiliated with the Centre for Bioinspired Technology, Centre for Neurotechnology, MIT’s Media Lab, McGovern Institute for Brain Research, and the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. His research bridges computational neuroscience and experimental approaches to develop neuromodulatory interventions for brain disorders.
Education:
- BSc in Physics from the Israeli Institute of Technology (Technion)
- MSc in Electromagnetic Engineering from the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg (TUHH), Germany
- PhD in Neuroscience from Imperial College London
Research Focus: Nir pioneers tools and principles for non-invasive electromagnetic modulation of neural activity, targeting brain disorders. His work spans single-cell electrophysiology, neurodynamic modeling, and human behavioral applications, emphasizing biophysical mechanisms linking electromagnetic fields and neural processing. Recent breakthroughs include non-invasive focal electrical stimulation via frequency-offset electric fields, published in Cell.
Scientific Awards:
- BBSRC Enterprise Fellowship
- Wellcome Trust MIT Fellowship
- Top Paper of the Year 2010, Journal of Neural Engineering
Funding & Collaborations: His research has been supported by the BBSRC and Wellcome Trust. Collaborations include Christofer Toumazou’s lab at Imperial’s Institute of Biomedical Engineering, Ed Boyden’s lab at MIT, and Alvaro Pascual-Leone’s lab at Harvard’s Berenson-Allen Center. He also contributes to interventional systems neuroscience and neuromuscular rehabilitation technology networks.
