Ning Xu Landén is a Senior Lecturer (Docent) at Karolinska Institutet, leading the Skin Wound Healing Research Group within the Department of Medicine, Solna. Her research focuses on decoding the molecular logic of skin repair and radiation injury to develop next-generation therapies. She has established herself as a leading researcher in the field of wound healing, with particular expertise in non-coding RNA biology and single-cell genomics.

Dr. Xu Landén's research spans four interconnected themes: building molecular atlases of human wound healing using single-cell and spatial transcriptomics; investigating regulatory RNAs in skin repair; developing RNA-based regenerative therapies; and studying radiation memory and late tissue injury. Her work has identified key non-coding RNA regulators of wound healing and revealed how radiation creates epigenetic memory in skin cells that impairs healing in cancer survivors.
Analysis of her most recent publications reveals a strong focus on single-cell genomics approaches to understand wound healing at unprecedented resolution, with particular emphasis on non-coding RNA networks including microRNAs, long non-coding RNAs, and circular RNAs. Her research increasingly integrates multi-omics approaches to identify therapeutic targets for chronic wounds and radiation-induced tissue damage.
