Nina Odegard

Nina Odegard serves as Associate Professor at the Department of Pedagogy within the Faculty of Humanities, Sports and Educational Sciences at the University of South-Eastern Norway (USN), Porsgrunn Campus. Her academic work integrates practical kindergarten experience with advanced research in early childhood pedagogy.

Her research expertise encompasses:

• Kindergarten pedagogy and sustainability practices
• Environmental education and aesthetic exploration
• Reggio Emilia educational philosophy (focusing on democracy, space, materials, and documentation)
• Children's participation and education for the youngest children

Dr. Odegard actively contributes to the BarneKraft research group studying children's power dynamics in kindergarten. She currently participates in 'The Power of Space' project developing sustainable educational environments through collaboration between USN, MUV creative recycling center, and 21 kindergartens. Previously, she completed the 'Small individual kindergartens' project with USN, Oslo Metropolitan University, and Høgskolen i Oslo og Akershus.

As an educator, she supervises bachelor's and master's students while leading course BLBUL2. Her public scholarship includes hosting the 'Perspektiver' podcast on kindergarten phenomena and maintaining blogs on creative reuse (https://kreativtgjenbruk.wordpress.com/) and ethics (EstEtikk).
