Kjartan Andersen Belseth

Kjartan Andersen Belseth is a Senior Lecturer in Pedagogy at Østfold University College since August 2014, promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2022. He is currently a PhD candidate in Pedagogy at NTNU (2023-2026) and on leave until July 2026. His academic affiliations include membership in NORBARN, The Nordic Research School for Educational Research, and research groups like 'Kindergarten Management.' He holds a Bachelor's from Oslo University College, Master's from Oslo and Akershus University College, and additional education in mentoring.

Research Interests: Focus on diversity, inclusion, decolonial practices, and ethics in early childhood education. Key themes include religion in kindergartens, multilingualism, and leadership roles. Recent work addresses Black Lives Matter discourse in early education and gender-equal leadership structures.

Publications: Over 50 peer-reviewed articles and books, including Religions and Everyday Pluralism in Kindergarten (2022). Recent work explores children's resistance to educational norms and ethical challenges in researching young children.

Awards: Nominated for Norway's top kindergarten educator award (2017, 2023) and recognized for mentoring a prize-winning thesis on intercultural collaboration.

Leadership Roles: Led the PhD candidate group at DMMH, coordinated courses like 'Arts, Culture, and Creativity,' and served as section leader for pedagogical programs.

Current Projects: Investigates gender-equal leadership in kindergartens and diversity initiatives, collaborating with researchers like Tina Binfield-Skøie. Explores Sami perspectives in early childhood education.
