Magnar Ødegård

Magnar Ødegård is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pedagogy, ICT and Learning at Oslo and Akershus University College of Applied Sciences. His research focuses on disruptive behavior in schools, special needs education, and inclusion strategies. He holds a PhD from the University of Oslo (2013-2017) and was a Visiting Scholar at UC Berkeley’s Sociology Department (2014-2017). He has taught in special needs education programs and contributed to research on classroom management and student well-being.

He has collaborated with institutions like the Norway-America Association and produced reports on school development and special education practices.

Publications: His recent work includes studies on early childhood educators’ practices for children with special needs, pedagogical leadership in inclusion, and teacher reactions to classroom disruptions. He has also published on binge eating disorder and the intersection of mood and classroom behavior.

Grants & Projects: Collaborated on projects like the ‘Universal Pedagogy’ initiative with Alver Municipality, focusing on inclusive educational strategies. Authored reports on school unrest and system-based interventions.

Labs/Teams: Member of the Special Education Research Group and contributed to partnerships between kindergartens, schools, and universities to enhance educational collaboration.
