Nina Gorgus is an Adjunct Professor in Empirical Cultural Studies at the Ludwig-Uhland-Institut für Empirische Kulturwissenschaft, Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen. She also serves as Curator for Alltagskultur at the Historisches Museum Frankfurt since 2010, overseeing collections and exhibitions focusing on material culture, urban green spaces, and mobility. Her academic career includes roles as a Guest Professor at the University of Vienna (2008-2009) and postdoctoral fellowships in Paris.
Education: She earned her Magister degree in Cultural Studies, French, and Sociology from the Universities of Freiburg and Tübingen (1985-1992), followed by a PhD (1996) on Georges Henri Rivière’s museology at Tübingen University.
Research Interests: Nina Gorgus specializes in museum practices, exhibition design, material culture, and urban studies. Her work addresses contemporary challenges in museums—including representation, diversity, colonialism, provenance, and digitization—while emphasizing participatory approaches. She curates exhibitions engaging with societal issues such as mobility and urban green spaces.

- Swiss Transdisciplinarity Award 2006 for the exhibition Macht und Kraft der Bilder
Labs/Teams: Coordinates the Frankfurt Einst? permanent exhibition and collaborates with institutions like the Vorarlberg Museum and Donauschwäbischen Zentralmuseum. Serves on scientific advisory boards for multiple museums.
