Nils Ringe is Professor of Political Science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, holding the Robert F. and Sylvia T. Wagner Chair. He has directed the Center for European Studies (2014-2021), the Jean Monnet European Union Center of Excellence (2015-2018), and the Jean Monnet EU Center of Excellence for Comparative Populism (2019-2022).
- Education: Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh (2006), M.A. from the same institution (2003), and B.A. in Political Science and History from Brandeis University (2001).
His research focuses on democratic institutions, populism, EU politics, and political networks. He explores how multilingual environments in the EU affect policy depoliticization and investigates populist responses to crises like the pandemic. His work combines comparative analysis with network theory and institutional studies.
Notable Publications include The Language(s) of Politics (2022) and co-edited volumes on populism and EU governance. Key awards: Jean Monnet Chair (2018-2021) and Larry Neal Prize (2021).
