Robert Finbow is Professor and Eric Dennis Memorial Chair of Government and Politics in the Department of Political Science at Dalhousie University's Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. He also serves as Deputy Director of the Jean Monnet European Union Centre of Excellence and Honours Coordinator. Dr. Finbow holds a B.A. (Honours) from Dalhousie University, an M.A. from York University, and both an MSc and PhD from the London School of Economics.
His research examines labour and social dimensions of trade agreements, particularly focusing on:
- Implementation of the Canada-EU Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA)
- Comparative analysis of NAFTA's labour accord
- Populism's impact on trade policy
- North American regional development
- Federalism and social policy interactions
Recent publications analyze populist backlash against trade agreements, CETA implementation challenges, and restructuring of state functions through trade agreements. His scholarship consistently explores tensions between economic integration and social policy.
