Nils Jonas Weber is a Doctoral Fellow at the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz – Max Planck Institute and Lecturer at Heidelberg University's Department of Art History. His research focuses on the repercussions of pandemics on early modern visual cultures, including social/political implications and the pictorial tradition of the Venetian Republic.
He investigates intersections between Plague Studies and Eco Art History, analyzing aesthetic practices shaped by Venice's topography and religious dynamics (Christianity, Islam, Judaism). His methodologies integrate Art History, Philosophy, and Bildwissenschaft.
