Nikos Hatziargyriou

Prof. Nikos Hatziargyriou is a full professor in the Power Division of the School of Electrical Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) since 1995. He also serves as Deputy CEO of PPC (Public Power Corporation) in Greece, overseeing Transmission and Distribution Networks, island DNO, and the Center of Testing, Research, and Prototyping.

Research Interests focus on advanced energy systems, including Smartgrids, Distributed Energy Resources, Microgrids, Renewable Energy Sources, and Power System Security. His work bridges theoretical innovation and practical applications in energy transition and grid modernization.

Projects and Leadership include coordination of EU-funded initiatives such as Care, More Care, Microgrids, More Microgrids, and Merge. He has participated in over 60 R&D projects, contributing to the development of smart grid technologies and standards.

Labs and Teams involve the Power Division at NTUA’s School of Electrical Engineering and the Center of Testing, Research, and Prototyping at PPC, focusing on energy system innovation and grid integration.
