Claus Leth Bak is a Professor at Aalborg University’s Faculty of Engineering and Science, affiliated with the Electric Power Systems and Microgrids department. His research focuses on high-voltage engineering, renewable energy integration, grid stability, and power system protection. He leads major projects like the development of stability screening methodologies for 100% inverter-based grids and HVDC interconnections in South-East Asia. Bak has received accolades including the CIGRE Distinguished Member award and IEEE Best Paper recognitions.
His work spans advanced insulation systems analysis, fault protection in HVDC grids, and drone-electrical infrastructure interactions. Projects include AI-driven energy management systems for renewable microgrids and cybersecurity assessments of grid infrastructure. Bak actively participates in international conferences (e.g., CIGRE Symposia) and collaborates with institutions globally. His media engagements address critical energy security issues like sabotage risks in power systems and grid resilience strategies.
