Nikolett Arató is an Assistant Professor at Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), affiliated with the Department of Counselling and School Psychology. She holds academic roles in the Institute of Psychology and serves as a member of the Faculty Research Ethics Committee. Her research focuses on cyberbullying prevention, digital skills development, socio-emotional learning, and the psychological impacts of technology use among children and adolescents. She actively contributes to cross-national studies on bullying dynamics and mental health resilience in educational settings.
Her work emphasizes understanding the interplay between executive functions, digital literacy, and cyberbullying behaviors. Recent studies explore protective factors against cyberbullying, such as family support and emotion regulation strategies, alongside pandemic-related social isolation effects. She has validated questionnaires for assessing bullying behaviors and identity models in diverse populations.
Nikolett’s research also addresses digital media’s role in mental health, including problematic smartphone use linked to social anxiety and cognitive impairments. She advocates for teacher training in bullying intervention and promotes transnational collaboration to address bullying and integration challenges in schools.
