Nikolay Sarkisyan is a Marie Curie Post-Doctoral Research Fellow affiliated with the Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages at the University of Oxford. His research focuses on the evolution of Russian revolutionary traditions through museum spaces, particularly in Petrograd-Leningrad (1917–1941), and intersects with Soviet history, Stalinism, and post-Soviet governance. He holds a PhD from the University of Oslo (focused on tolerance and contemporary Russian governance), a Specialist degree in History from St Petersburg State University, and a Master’s in Sociology from the European University at St Petersburg.

Prior to academia, he worked at the Museum of Political History of Russia and the Smol'ny Museum, experiences that shaped his interdisciplinary approach to revolutionary historiography.
