Nikolay Nikonorov is a Professor and Head of the Research Center for Optical Material Engineering at ITMO University. He is also a Chief Research Associate at the Heritage Science Lab and part of the Research and Educational Center for Photonics and Optoinformatics.

- Bachelor's degree in Optical and Electronic Devices from Leningrad Institute of Mechanics and Optics (now ITMO University) in 1976.
Research Interests: Prof. Nikonorov pioneered the field of optical materials science of gradient waveguides in glass and contributed to integrated optics, gradient-index optics, microoptics, laser optics, optical nanotechnologies, and nonlinear optical magneto-optic materials. His work spans photosensitive, fluorescent, and polyfunctional optical materials, as well as condensed laser media.
