Nikola Stanisic is a Lecturer and PhD student at Malmö University's Faculty of Odontology, holding a double-degree program between Malmö University and Aarhus University. His academic work focuses on dental research with particular emphasis on pain mechanisms, jaw function, and related disorders.
Dr. Stanisic's research interests span multiple areas within dental science and pain research. His primary focus is on temporomandibular disorders, bruxism (teeth grinding), and the relationship between bite force and dental health outcomes. He investigates how these factors interact with neuroplasticity and impact patients' quality of life. His work bridges clinical dentistry with neurological and psychological aspects of pain perception.
His recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on evidence-based approaches to understanding jaw-related pain conditions. Through systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and clinical studies, he examines the prevalence of conditions like bruxism across populations, the relationship between bite force and dental fractures, and intergenerational aspects of pain and mental well-being. His research combines epidemiological methods with clinical dental practice to develop better diagnostic and treatment protocols.
Nikola Stanisic actively contributes to his field through collaborative research projects including ePROPP – eHealth for Preventing and Reducing Orofacial Pain in the Population and CRUX – complications related to bruxism, demonstrating his commitment to translating research into practical clinical applications.
