Christel Larsson serves as an Associate Professor, Senior Lecturer, Senior Dental Officer, and Specialist Dentist in Division 2 at Malmö University's Faculty of Odontology. Her academic and clinical work focuses on prosthodontics and dental implantology within the university's Advancing Oral Health research profile.
Her research interests center on dental biomechanics, particularly bite force analysis, dental implant complications, and advanced dental materials. She investigates the relationship between occlusal forces and restoration failures, zirconia ceramic properties, implant-prosthesis interfaces, and digital dentistry applications. Her work bridges clinical practice with materials science to improve long-term outcomes in restorative dentistry.
Larsson leads the Precision Implant Dentistry research project (2024-2029), a prospective clinical multicentre trial examining how bite force measurements can predict complications in dental implant treatment. She also contributes to the CRUX project on bruxism-related complications and doctoral research on zirconium dioxide ceramic materials. Her recent publications demonstrate expertise in dental materials testing, implant-prosthesis fit, and digital impression technologies.
As part of Malmö University's Advancing Oral Health research environment, she collaborates with Smile Tandvård Skåne and contributes to the university's strategic focus on precision in oral healthcare, sustainable dental solutions, health equity, and eHealth implementation.
