Nikol Rummel is a Professor at the Ruhr University Bochum, affiliated with the Faculty of Philosophy and Educational Science and the Department of Educational Psychology and Educational Technology. She is currently on leave (2022-2027) but remains a faculty member through her role as a CAIS Research Professor in the EdTech & AI Research Program.

Her research focuses on adaptive learning systems, collaborative learning, and the integration of generative AI into educational environments. She explores how self-regulated learning strategies can be enhanced through Learning Analytics and adaptive support mechanisms in both traditional and online educational contexts.
Recent publications highlight trends in EdTech, including AI’s role in academic writing, collaborative reflection frameworks, and data-driven analysis of learning processes. These works emphasize scalable solutions for improving educational outcomes through interactive technologies and psychological insights.
