Dr. Alisa Maksimova is a Research Scientist at the Center for Advanced Internet Studies (CAIS) GmbH and holds a Postdoctoral Researcher position at the Department of Educational Psychology and Educational Technology, Ruhr-Universität Bochum. She specializes in interactional sociology, AI narratives, and the role of technology in social interactions, particularly within museum settings and educational contexts. Her work bridges microsociological approaches with emerging AI technologies.
Education: She earned a Candidate of Sciences in Sociology (PhD equivalent) from the Russian Academy of Sciences in 2017 with a thesis on social interaction in science museums. She holds multiple Master’s degrees in Sociology from the National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE) in Moscow and the University of Manchester. Her academic journey includes collaborative programs in social sciences and economics.
Research focuses on museums as educational spaces, conversation analysis with AI systems, and public engagement with AI technologies. Recent work examines how museums frame AI through exhibitions and how users interact with voice-based agents in service contexts. She actively participates in interdisciplinary projects like INTERACT! and CAIS’s EdTech & AI program.
Publications include conference contributions on AI narratives in museums, voice-agent communication, and the sociological implications of automated systems. While no awards are explicitly listed, her research demonstrates engagement with cutting-edge societal-AI intersections.
Her current projects explore digital transformation in education and the social dynamics of human-AI interaction. She collaborates with institutions like the University of Turin and Siegen’s CRC 1187, contributing to both theoretical and applied studies in technosociology.
