Carina Wiesen is a Research Assistant at the Educational Psychology Lab within the Institute of Educational Research at Ruhr University Bochum, Germany. Since July 2017, she has been working under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Nikol Rummel, focusing on problem-solving and learning processes in hardware reverse engineering. Additionally, she is a Ph.D. candidate at the SecHuman Graduate School at the Horst Görtz Institute for IT-Security, Ruhr University Bochum.
Her research explores the intersection of educational psychology and IT-security, particularly in hardware obfuscation and cognitive strategies during reverse engineering tasks. Previously, she served as a Product Manager at BCW-Gruppe in Essen (2015-2017).
Carina holds a Master of Science (2015) and a Bachelor of Science (2013) in Applied Cognitive and Media Science from the University of Duisburg-Essen.
Her work aligns with Ruhr University Bochum’s commitment to cosmopolitanism, inclusive education, and interdisciplinary research collaboration.
