Dr. Nikki Ebisu is a Lecturer in Music and Violin at the University of Hawaii at Mānoa's Music Department. A multifaceted musician, she balances performance, education, and advocacy. She studied violin under prominent teachers including Dr. Shinichi Suzuki, founder of the Suzuki Method, and holds degrees from the University of Texas at Austin (B.A. Music & Pre-Medicine) and the University of Colorado Boulder (M.M., D.M.A.).
As owner of Honolulu's Violin Artistry Studio, she specializes in Suzuki-based violin instruction for ages 3+, emphasizing bilingual (Japanese-English) education. Her students excel in national/international competitions and prestigious music programs. She performs with the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra and Maui Pops Orchestra, and actively presents workshops globally.
Dr. Ebisu served as Immediate Past-President of the Hawaii Music Teachers Association (HMTA), which earned the 2022 MTNA National State Chapter Affiliate of the Year under her leadership. She is affiliated with the Suzuki Association of Hawaii and Hawaii American String Teachers Association, promoting music education statewide.
