Professor Nikil Kapur holds the RAEng/GSK Chair in Pharmaceutical Processing at the University of Leeds' School of Mechanical Engineering. His expertise spans fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and material processing, with a focus on multiphase flows and interdisciplinary applications. He leads research in microfluidics, spray dynamics, and biological systems, collaborating across engineering, chemistry, and biology.
Education: BEng (1st Class) in Chemical Engineering from the University of Bradford, followed by a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Leeds. Teaching includes fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and microfluidics across undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Research interests emphasize fluid dynamics in manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and biological processes. Current projects include dynamic mineralisation control, flow reactor development, and gut microbiome modeling. His work integrates computational/experimental methods, with strong industry partnerships for process optimization.
Advising 9 current PhD students and overseeing grant-funded projects in pharmaceutical processing and material science. Lab facilities include advanced imaging, spray analysis, and microfluidic platforms. Collaborations span academia and industry, addressing challenges in drug delivery, corrosion, and sustainable manufacturing.
