Niharika Nath is a Professor in the Department of Biological and Chemical Sciences at the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT), part of the Health, Behavioral, and Life Sciences School. She specializes in cancer biology and prevention, focusing on signaling molecules in breast, colon, and pancreatic cancers. Her research explores NSAID derivatives that release nitric oxide and hydrogen sulfide to inhibit tumor growth. She collaborates with institutions like City College of New York and advocates for undergraduate research through her role as Councilor at the Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR).
- Education: Ph.D. in Biochemical Engineering from IIT Delhi, M.Sc. in Biotechnology (Jadavpur University), B.Pharm (Delhi University)
- Postdoctoral Work: Columbia University (Carcinogenesis and Cell Signaling)
Research interests include cancer cell signaling pathways (NF-κB, β-catenin), drug development, and medical imaging for early cancer detection. She teaches Cell Biology and Microbiology, mentoring students in lab research and conference presentations.
Awards include the Standard of Excellence Award (2008) and Distinguished Guest Lecture Award (2016). Her work spans over 50 peer-reviewed publications, emphasizing redox-sensitive signaling pathways and novel drug mechanisms.
