Meesbah Jiwaji is a Research Fellow at Rhodes University, South Africa, with extensive postdoctoral experience at the University of Glasgow (2007-2010), Rhodes University (2007), and Aston University (2011-2012). As an NRF Research Career Advancement Fellow, he focuses on molecular signaling mechanisms in cancer biology.
- Research Focus 1: The Molecular Nose sensor platform for studying transcriptional activity shifts in drug-treated cells
- Research Focus 2: Scaffold protein CNK's role in MAPK and NF-κB signaling pathways
His work combines sensor platform development with transcription factor analysis to understand drug mechanisms and cellular signaling. The Molecular Nose technology, featuring over 200 TFBS-reporter constructs, identifies activated pathways through unique transcriptional signatures.
Key awards include the NRF Research Career Advancement Fellowship. His publications focus on:
- Transcriptional profiling for drug specificity
- MAPK/NF-κB pathway analysis
- Signal transduction mechanisms in cancer
- Biochemical sensor development
