Nicolò Scremin is a SGSSS/ESRC-funded doctoral candidate at the University of St Andrews' Department of International Relations and a Non-Resident Fellow at George Washington University's Program on Extremism. His research explores family dynamics' role in extremist radicalization and disengagement processes, focusing on intergenerational transmission of extremist ideologies. He holds a BA in Investigation and Security Sciences from the University of Perugia and an MA in Terrorism, Security and Society from King’s College London.

His work bridges terrorism studies with family sociology, analyzing mechanisms of ideological socialization across generations. Recent publications address definitional challenges in terrorism research, Italian counter-terrorism exceptionalism, and familial pathways to extremism. He serves as Managing Editor of the International Counter-Terrorism Review and previously worked at Combating Jihadist Terrorism in the UK (CoJiT-UK) and the International Institute for Counter-Terrorism (ICT).
