Professor Nicoleta Maynard is a leading academic in Engineering Education Research at Monash University, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Chemical & Biological Engineering. She is nationally and internationally recognized for her work in inclusive, evidence-based learning environments, with a strong focus on equity, curriculum innovation, and student capability development in design thinking, teamwork, and ethical practice.

Her research centers on creating inclusive engineering education environments through the study of unconscious bias in peer feedback, support for neurodivergent students, curriculum models embedding systems thinking, and project-based learning in school STEM. She investigates how institutional cultures affect inclusivity and belonging, particularly through gendered feedback and academic norms.
The recent publications reflect a strong trend in engineering education research, with emphasis on teamwork development, AI for equitable learning, pedagogical content knowledge, and problem-based learning in schools. Her work bridges engineering, education, and social sciences, aiming to transform curricula for sustainability and equity.

She is the ANZ Chair and International Co-Director of the CDIO Initiative, shaping global engineering education through leadership and cross-sector collaboration.
She leads and participates in key research projects such as Exploring Problem Based Learning in schools and Exploring the value and impact of pedagogical content knowledge, working with national and international collaborators. Her work is disseminated through high-impact journals like the European Journal of Engineering Education and leading conferences including SEFI and AAEE.
