Professor Nicole Soranzo is a Senior Group Leader at the Wellcome Sanger Institute and Head of the Genomics Research Centre at Human Technopole, Milan. She has been Professor of Human Genetics at the University of Cambridge since 2015, affiliated with the School of Clinical Medicine and Department of Haematology.

Her research focuses on how the human genome influences common disease risk, integrating population genomics, metabolomics, and GWAS to advance cardiovascular and cardiometabolic disease understanding. Her work bridges statistical genetics with clinical applications.
She has received numerous accolades including EMBO and Academy of Medical Sciences fellowships, and recognition as a Highly Cited Researcher. Her leadership roles include positions on scientific advisory boards for institutions like the MRC Integrative Epidemiology Unit and the Chan Zuckerberg Foundation.
