Nicole Seisler is an Assistant Professor of Ceramics at Lewis & Clark College, affiliated with the College of Arts & Sciences and the Department of Art. She holds an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2011) and a BFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (2004). Her work explores time, materiality, and the interplay between artist, viewer, and participant. She has exhibited at institutions such as the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, Craft Contemporary LA, and the American Museum of Ceramic Art. Recent projects include her book Recipes for Conceptual Clay (in the time of covid-19) and solo exhibitions like Holding Patterns.
Teaching focuses include foundational and advanced ceramics courses (ART 116-316) and special topics in contemporary art practices. She founded A-B Projects, an exhibition and education space for conceptual ceramics. Her research integrates experimental techniques with critical discourse on art-making processes.
Nicole has taught at institutions including SAIC, University of Washington, and multiple Los Angeles-area schools over a decade-long career. Her work emphasizes collaborative practices and alternative educational models in the ceramic arts.
