Linda Sormin is an Associate Professor of Studio Art and Head of Ceramics at New York University. Her work focuses on sculptures and site-responsive installations using raw clay, fired ceramics, and found objects, exploring themes of fragility, upheaval, and diasporic identity. Her art is featured in major institutions such as the Renwick Gallery (Smithsonian American Art Museum) and the Victoria & Albert Museum.
Her exhibitions include 'Boru Sibaso Paet' at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (2023), and a forthcoming solo exhibition at the Gardiner Museum in Toronto. Sormin’s practice bridges material exploration with cultural narratives, reflecting her Thai-Canadian background.
She is affiliated with the Maria Manetti Shrem Art Studio Program and has been supported by the College of Letters and Science at UC Davis. Her creative output emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches, combining traditional ceramic techniques with contemporary conceptual frameworks.
