Prof. Dr. Nicole Rauch serves as Professor of Micro and Nano Analysis at the Faculty of Computer Science and Natural Sciences, South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences (FH SWF) since 2010, teaching Materials Science, Micro-Nano Analysis, and Surface Analysis in the Bio- and Nanotechnologies program.
Her academic journey includes:
- PhD in Materials Science (2003-2005) at Max-Planck Institute for Metals Research, Stuttgart (Thesis: 'High temperature spreading of metals')
Her research integrates Nanotechnology with Biomedical Applications, specializing in high-resolution photoelectron spectroscopy for medical device cleanliness, rheological characterization of hydrogel implants, and development of artificial extracellular matrices. Current work focuses on polymer elasticity gradients, cell-matrix interaction mechanics, and surface analysis techniques for biomedical materials.
Recognition includes:
- DFG Research Scholarship (May 2008) for work at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory
Prof. Rauch maintains active research collaborations across institutions including Max-Planck Institute for Metals Research (2005-2008), Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (2001-2003, 2008), and NMI Tübingen (2008-2009), with current work centered on advancing micro/nano analytical methodologies in Iserlohn.
