Shuit-Tong Lee is a Professor of Materials Science and Director of the Center of Super-Diamond and Advanced Films (COSDAF) at City University of Hong Kong. He holds a Hans Fischer Senior Fellowship at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). His academic journey includes a B.Sc. from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, an M.S. from the University of Rochester, and a Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia, all in Chemistry. He has also held research positions at UC Berkeley and the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory.
His research focuses on nanomaterials synthesis, energy applications, and biomedical technologies. Key achievements include developing oxide-assisted growth of semiconductor nanowires and metal-assisted etching for silicon nanowires. Lee’s work spans organic electronics, surface science, and super-hard coatings, with applications in energy and catalysis.
- Awards: Hsun Lee Lecture Award, National Natural Science Award (2nd Class, 2005 & 2002), Humboldt Research Award.
- Leadership: Founder of COSDAF and the Nano-organic Photoelectronic Laboratory (CAS, Beijing).
Publications highlight contributions to silicon-based quantum dots, nanorod photovoltaics, and fluorescent nanomaterials for biomedical imaging.
