Prof. Hoi Lee is a Full Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Texas at Dallas, affiliated with the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science. He holds a Ph.D. from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (2004) and has been at UT Dallas since 2005. His research focuses on power management integrated circuits (PMICs), wireless power transmission, energy harvesting, and analog/mixed-signal ICs, with applications in automotive systems, LED lighting, and biomedical implants.
He has received the NSF CAREER Award (2011) and multiple Best Paper Awards from IEEE conferences. Prof. Lee serves as an Associate Editor of the IEEE Journal of Solid-State Circuits and has chaired major conferences like ISSCC and CICC. His work spans 150+ publications, including high-impact journals like JSSC and IEEE Transactions series. He advises graduate students and teaches courses in analog IC design and power electronics, emphasizing hands-on experience in lab settings.
His lab develops cutting-edge technologies such as zero-voltage switching (ZVS) converters, hybrid DC-DC architectures, and integrated energy harvesters. Current projects include transcutaneous power transmission for implants and high-efficiency LED drivers. Prof. Lee’s research is supported by NSF, NIH, ARPA-E, and industry partners like Semiconductor Research Corporation.
