Dr. Nicole Gilhuis is an Assistant Professor of History in the Humanities and Teacher Education Division at Seaver College, Pepperdine University. She joined Pepperdine after completing her PhD at UCLA in 2020, specializing in Atlantic World histories spanning the 16th-18th centuries.
Research Focus: Her work centers on intercultural encounters between Native American, African, and European communities in colonial settings. Key themes include:
