Nicole E. Minniefield

Nicole E. Minniefield, M.D., serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and Chief of Cardiology at the Dallas VA Medical Center, where she practices as a noninvasive cardiologist.

Her academic journey includes:

• Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from California State University at Sacramento
• Medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine
• Internal Medicine residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania
• Cardiovascular Disease fellowship at UT Southwestern Medical Center

Dr. Minniefield's research centers on cardiovascular health disparities among African-Americans, focusing on identifying early non-invasive markers of cardiac dysfunction to reduce disparate rates of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. She integrates community education programs with community-based participatory research to address systemic health inequities, emphasizing culturally tailored interventions for at-risk populations.

Dr. Minniefield actively bridges clinical practice with community engagement through leadership roles on the Association of Black Cardiologists Board of Directors and the American Heart Association Community Task Force Initiative. She spearheads the GoodNEWS project in south Dallas churches for cardiovascular disease prevention and advocates for African-American women's heart health through speaking engagements with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and the North Texas Business & Professional Women’s League.
