Nicole Carroll is an Executive Director of the ASU Local Journalism Initiative and a Professor of Practice at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University (ASU). She leads efforts to reimagine local journalism through innovative strategies and business models. Previously, she served as editor of The Arizona Republic (2000–2018) and editor-in-chief of USA Today (2018). Her work includes a Pulitzer Prize-winning project on the U.S. border wall and recognition as a Pulitzer finalist for breaking news coverage.
