Nicole Brandt is a Professor and Parke-Davis Chair in Geriatric Pharmacotherapy at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy’s Department of Practice, Sciences, and Health Outcomes Research (P-SHOR). She also serves as Executive Director of the Peter Lamy Center on Drug Therapy and Aging. Her roles include advancing geriatric education, clinical practice, and healthcare policy. Dr. Brandt holds a PharmD from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy (1997) and an MBA in healthcare management. She has led initiatives such as the Geriatrics/Palliative Care Pathway in the PharmD curriculum, an ASHP-accredited geriatrics residency, and a two-year post-PharmD fellowship. Her research focuses on medication management for older adults, antimicrobial stewardship, and Medicare Part D MTM programs.
Notable recognitions include the 2019 Dennis W. Jahnigen Memorial Award (first pharmacist recipient) and the 2018 George F. Archambault Award. She co-authored the AGS Beer’s Criteria (2012, 2015, 2019), guiding safe prescribing for older adults. Dr. Brandt has spearheaded state and national policy efforts, including Maryland’s Age-Friendly University designation and antimicrobial stewardship initiatives. Her leadership roles include past president and board chairman of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP).
