Nicolas Margas is an Associate Professor in Physical Education and Sports Intervention at the University of Lausanne's Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (ISSUL), appointed on February 1, 2024. He combines academic work with practical experience as a former physical education teacher in French secondary schools and teacher trainer at the University of Rouen.
His research focuses on education through sport for building inclusive and sustainable societies. Key areas include: identifying psychosocial processes in sport socialization, developing sports practices aligned with sustainability goals, addressing educational challenges like bullying, health, and values construction. He also investigates PE's role in academic/social inclusion of allophone students.
At UNIL, he coordinates the Education and Training Observatory (OBSEF) and strengthens interdisciplinary collaborations with institutions like HEP-VD and French IUFE. His work emphasizes bridging research-practice gaps and fostering institutional dialogue to advance sports education.
